Elements of the Streetscape
A streetscape consists of the built and natural elements of the public right-of way (the street). It can be more that a street – it can be a public/community space designed for people.
Improvements can:
- Reduce traffic congestion and pollution
- Lead to healthier, more active lifestyles
- Increase property values
- Create safer streets for people of all ages
- Create more active and vibrant streets
The project is funded by a Municipal Planning Grant. The Town has hired Northwest Regional Planning to manage the project. Landscape architects from DuBois and King have been retained to complete the project in coordination with NRPC.
Project Schedule
Streetscape Audit
On June, 13 2022 NRPC staff let Richford staff and residents on an audit of the Streetscape. The goal of the audit was to assess both the “moveability” of the street as well as the design & feeling of the street as a place. Please reference the Walk Audit Summary for details on the findings of this audit.
Vision Workshop
Approximately 30 residents gathered at the Thirsty Burger on August 16 to envision streetscape improvements for Richford’s Village Center. The Town has contracted with NRPC and DuBois and King to complete a master plan for streetscape improvements, which will consider bicycle and pedestrian safety along with placemaking. Potential options for improvements will be presented to the community in the Fall.
