Drawbridge Construction Update - 10/4

Vehicular Traffic Impacts
US Route 2 at the drawbridge is open to two-lane two-way traffic. There are flaggers onsite to assist with construction trucks entering and exiting the work zone. The contractor plans to work 10-hour days, Mondays thru Saturdays.

Bridge Openings
The bridge will open at the top of the hour between 8 AM and 8 PM daily for marine traffic. Greasing of the drawbridge will occur on Mondays beginning at 8:30 AM. Recent News & Events

Planned Construction Activities
The contractor is continuing to build out the temporary bridge on both the west and east sides. They are preparing to place the superstructure (steel beams) of the bridge span out to the third pier from the West side this week. On the East side they have placed the steel beams for the third bridge span and they are working on the fourth pier. The picture to the right shows a crane on the east side lifting a component of the pier bracing system.

Information
Please SLOW DOWN and obey the speed limits within the work zone. The work zone speed limit is enforced, and individuals have been ticketed for excessive speeding. Obeying the speed limit is extremely important for everyone's safety.
